OMG, your P.S. insulted the great RoR. I shall now pray at the temple of the DHH that you may be smited by legions of Rails fanboys.
Hey Davey, I'm one of the guys who has been working on Zend_Service_Audioscrobbler (web service used by the folks at Last.fm) and was wondering how this might impact my component? I'm currently using Zend_Service_Rest to make my calls.
The new Zend_Rest_Client is API compatible with the prior Zend_Services_Rest, you just need to s/Zend_Services_Rest/Zend_Rest_Client/
- Davey
That sounds simple enough, but I'm curious as to what advantage I might gain by switching from Zend_Services_Rest to Zend_Rest_Client?
Well, the main advantage, is that Zend_Services_Rest is going away.
The main advantage as I see it, is no manually parsing the resulting XML, and no need to perform xpath. There is however, the possibility that the automatic ways will not work, which is one reason we're leaving the old API intact - sometimes, it will be better do things manually - Davey
Thanks for the heads up. When the time comes I don't think it will be too painfull to switch things over
