So, after just an amazing time at the conference, myself and the wife decided that we were going to spend our weekend doing as little as possible. We went in the hot tub, enjoyed the pool, the food and the hotel room.
Now I'm sat in Detroit Aiport, which just has to be the nicest airport I've been to yet, as far as purely aesthetic things go. I prefer Tampa for the layout.
We came in at Terminal C after flying a crop duster (literally, had 2/1 seat configuration on the aisles, and ony like 10 rows, and it had propellers) to Detroit from Toronto. Then we got to go through what would normally have been an extremely boring tunnel with the Jetsons moving sidewalks to hell, but instead they spend the big bucks and have an undulating lighting effect from rail (of the sidewalk) to the ceiling, like glass walls with pretty lights behind it. It truly is awesome.
Then we found out our flight was delayed an hour. It appears Northwest Airlines mechanics have been on strike the past few weeks and today they decided to fire them and keep the temporary workes on as permenant fixtures at the lower pay rate.
So we make our way to the departure gate at 9:45pm only to get here and the screen reads 11:30pm departure. So the staff turn around because even they didn't realise that and we ask what the problem is and look up again and its 11:05pm. I really don't know if were going to get home till at least 3am and I'm supposed to work in the morning. Ugh!

P.S.
the security guy at the customs in Toronto decided to joke with us about my not being able to come back to the US, needless to say we almost had a heart attack. We still have to go through second level security (luckily, no cavity search!)
